Illustrative Examples of Work Carried out:
To facilitate the dissemination of info for the Rhode Island Division of Public Security to the general public and the media for its Divisions and Businesses, to incorporate, the Rhode Island State Police, Division of Sheriffs, Capitol Police, Division of State Hearth Marshal, E 911 Uniform Emergency Phone System, Municipal Police Coaching Academy, and Grants Administration Workplace.
Screens the every day actions of the Division for conditions more likely to appeal to media consideration;
Creates information releases for distribution to the native media;
Retains up-to-date of details about the Division presently being reported by the media by contacting supervisory personnel of the Division each day;
Advises and assists all personnel who make shows on means and strategies to successfully talk with the general public and media;
Prepares briefing supplies and speaking factors or speeches for members of the Command Employees for official talking engagements or media occasions;
Screens native and nationwide information sources, and public security associated web sites, and keep a file of tales involving or impacting the Division, its Divisions and Businesses;
Present Division personnel with coaching on media relations;
Function the Division web site and social media supervisor, preserving Division web sites and social media accounts up to date always;
Coordinate media relations for Division packages and ceremonies; take part within the coordination of packages and ceremonies;
Coordinate with Division of Public Security Authorized Workplace to evaluate and reply to public data requests when applicable;

Required Qualifications for Appointment:
Schooling : a Bachelor Diploma from an accredited school or college in public relations, mass communications, journalism, marketing, public administration or associated subject;
Expertise : minimal of three years’ expertise in print or digital media or public relations;
Or : any mixture of schooling and expertise that shall be considerably equal to the above schooling and expertise.
